Let it be a challenge! Steps to master: - Listen to the track until it's familiar - practice switching between chords smoothly and quickly (start slow and clean) - then try to play the song with the track - Then play the song without the track until you are comfortable - finally play it with the track again. - have fun with it! If you don't know how to read chord charts: example D xx0232 means ? xx : You Do Not let the E or the A strings ring (mute with your thumb or don't strum those strings.) 0 : The D string is open meaning you leave it alone. 2 : Fret the G string in the 2nd fret, 3 : the B in the 3rd 2: and the e in the 2nd. That's the basic concept. :) Don't let the two bar chords here - F# and Bm - intimidate you either. You only have to play them once! Work on finger strength after training your fingers to switch between the shapes quickly and smoothly. Start slow and clean. Don't worry too much if it sounds bad at first – finger strength will come in time. A good way to make sure you're playing it correctly is to pick each note individually. Don't let weird chord names drive you off either: it's not that bad. And when you learn new chords you get better at playing the guitar. The number of songs you will be able to play will broaden now. Short chord lesson: D2/A means it's a D2 chord with an A in the bass. So instead of muting the A string, let her rip! :P The 5 in B5 comes from the 5th note played in the B major scale – which is F#. Fretting the e string at 2 is F# the G string at 4 is B and B open is B. So you're playing B B F# or B5. Same concept for D2, G2, and A2 except is the 2nd notes in the major scales. And if you're intermediate or advanced: Have fun!
